Appointed as the Contractor’s Architect, to advise on the construction and assembly of a prototype home, to achieve the Government’s Sustainable Homes highest code (Level 6). The house performance creates a zero Carbon home (In relation to Building Regulations) and this prototype was built to provide the first low cost solution in the UK. Design Architect (Zedfactory) and strawboard manufacturer Stramit, teamed up to create the first affordable house, which is constructed using straw cassettes within a timber frame. We worked with the consultants/contractor/National House-Building Council and client, during the development phase to advise on the technical aspects of construction, delivery and the eventual four day site erection programme.
